Introducing "One Year Ago Today"
I know it's been a while since I've posted anything on here, and it was never too well-maintained in the first place. But I've got some exciting news: I am finally going to start sharing my South America experiences and adventures in this space through a blog series titled, One Year Ago Today.
As many of you know, I am an avid journal writer. I've got narratives of my life experiences dating back to 1999. In recent years, I began filling the pages of a "one-line-a-day" journal that keeps track of my daily happenings for five consecutive years. Through this journal, my more intimate one, and a series of dated photographs, I am going to retell my story of what I experienced exactly a year ago. I hope you all don't view this as "old news," but rather as a refreshing telling of *somewhat* dated experiences.
I've chosen this sort of retrospective storytelling for three main reasons:
It's taken me a loooong time to organize and edit my photos. I mean, way too long. But hey. You can't rush these things.
My solo-traveling experience was a transformative one -- one I still feel the impact of one year later. Which leads me to the third reason.
Time reveals unknown perspectives. I think and feel much differently about my trip now than I did while I was wrapped up in it.
So stay tuned! A few days from now will mark my #OneYearAgoToday journey when I took off on a one-way ticket to La Paz, Bolivia. Below you'll find a little preview of what to look forward to.
Mucho Amor,
Maya
